Trained in art history, design, and painting, Catherine Bisson’s work has evolved through past experience and extensive world travel.

Born in Canada, Catherine has lived in Europe, Africa, and North America. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles, making frequent trips to Hawaii.

Many of Catherine's paintings are composed of unique observations and personal experiences from her past. Her recent work has been greatly inspired, influenced, informed and shaped by the scenery and beach culture that she has been exposed to naturally during her time in Hawaii. Be it vast seascape vistas, natural sunlight, reflective water, cool inviting surf, or imagery from under the sea, she has found inspiration in the universal rather than the micro-specifics of the individual.

Her recent experiments with the backgrounds of her paintings focus more on the unexpected by juxtaposing realism with loose brush strokes, drips of paints, and color glazes.

She received a Masters in fine arts from Concordia University in 1998 and continues to show traditionally and non-traditionally internationally.
